Who we are
The Lathrop Juneteenth Heritage Committee is a dedicated group passionate about celebrating the rich history and cultural significance of Juneteenth. We are committed to fostering a sense of community, joy, and unity through our annual celebrations, which have become a cornerstone of Lathrop's cultural landscape.
Our Mission:
Preserve Heritage: We strive to honor the legacy of Juneteenth, commemorating the day when freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in the United States.
Promote Unity: Our events bring together people from diverse backgrounds to share in the joy and resilience of Black culture.
Educate and Celebrate: Through music, art, food, and storytelling, we highlight the importance of this historic day and its ongoing impact on American society.
Our Events:
Each year, we host a grand celebration at the Lathrop Generations Center, featuring live performances, delicious food, educational exhibits, and activities for all ages. Our events are designed to inspire, educate, and uplift, ensuring that the spirit of Juneteenth continues to thrive in our community.
