Councilwoman Minnie Diallo - Lathrop City Council

Minnie Diallo is a lifelong resident of Lathrop, California, and a dedicated public servant committed to shaping the city’s future while honoring its rich heritage. Elected to the Lathrop City Council in 2020, Diallo has been a driving force behind initiatives that prioritize public safety, community engagement, and cultural celebration.

Diallo’s passion for service is deeply rooted in her family legacy. As the granddaughter of Reverend Maurice Cotton, a prominent local pastor, she grew up immersed in community outreach and advocacy. Her work continues this tradition through efforts such as organizing Lathrop’s Black Lives Matter march and establishing the city’s Juneteenth celebration as an official event.

Before joining the council, Diallo served as Chair of Lathrop’s Parks and Recreation Commission, where she championed programs that enhance the quality of life for residents. Her leadership reflects a commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and ensuring every voice in the community is heard.

As Vice Mayor of Lathrop in 2024, Diallo demonstrated steadfast leadership during a pivotal time for the city. She remains focused on fostering unity across neighborhoods, addressing public safety concerns, and creating opportunities for families to thrive.

Diallo’s vision for Lathrop is one of progress balanced with preservation—a city where growth serves its people and heritage is celebrated. Through her work on the council, she continues to be a powerful advocate for equality, education, and community development.
